I don't know all the causes, of course, but I would imagine that teens today are bigger because:
1.They don't get enough exercise (xbox, wii, nintendo) are not the same as building a tree fort, playing baseball or street hockey, touch football as with older generations.
2.The food they eat has fewer nutrients, so they are hungry more often; so they eat more.(supplements would probable help some.)
3. Emotional problems come with being overweight, which often causes an eating disorder so teens today eat more.
4. PARENTS DON"T SPEND ENOUGH TIME WITH THEIR CHILDREN.(GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR KIDS LIVES!!!!!
ITS YOUR JOB TO TEACH THEM:
HOW TO EAT HEALTHY
HOW TO HAVE FUN OUTSIDE AWAY FROM THE TV SET.
HOW TO HAVE RESPECT FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.
IT TAKES TIME...YOUR TIME NOT THE BABYSITTERS, NOT THE TEACHERS, NOT THE GUIDANCE COUNCILORS.
PARENTS LOVE YOUR CHILDREN. DON'T JUST TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM. SHOW THEM YOU LOVE THEM BY YOUR ACTIONS.
THEN THEY WILL GET HEALTHY.
