As the Obama's put it: It is common sense of how to rid a society of obesity. So get up and move! Stop sitting in front of the television and the computer, stop allowing your children to sit and play video games for hours, and take responsibility and assert your authority as an adult and kick them outside for at least 30-45 minutes each day.
I am tired of individuals blaming genetics for a problem that starts at home.
Genetics can only be blamed for so much but luckily it can be changed with an altered lifestyle. Health news
So keep your head up and get your kids outside in the swimming pool or in a soccer game and remember to MOVE! Be sure to watch what you eat.

Unfortunately, I am suffering from anorexia nervosa. I am 21 years old, and am close to being diagnosed as terminal.
I understand the problems your children face. As a child, I was not only picked on for being heftier by my peers and classmates, but my family as well.
I cannot imagine your children's plight as they now have the government stepping in to make them feel worse.
There are bigger problems than obesity like, say major depression. The more we focus on obesity, the more I'm afraid that we're raising a generation of severely clinically depressed children.
